Stylistic device:

1. Light and shadow: With use of light and shadow (rays, clouds, shadows etc.) stronger depths and more plastic images are possible than with a simply lighted surface.

2.Fog: Fog is a stylistic device that can be used for creating fantastic or mystical atmospheres in images.

3. Details: Details have visual appeal and catch the eye. The observer will watch an image longer, if his eyes will find again and again new things.

Picture quality:

1. Resolution: The best resolution for rendering is 4000 x 3000 pixel (is only possible with the registered version). An image of this size followed by a reduction to 1024 x 768 or small will reduce edges and lead to a finer image with more details in contrast to anialiasing.

2. Optimization of images: For an optimal result following action is recommended: Rendering at high resolution followed by reduction of size and correction of gamma and contrast. Only just after all other work incl. adaptation of size the image can be sharpend in order to avoid a loss of details.

Programms you can do with are: Adobe Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro

Surfaces

1. Colours: The colours of surfaces should suit to each other, unless strong boundaries are requested. For example in case of realistic surfaces a surface with pastel colour looks better as such colours mostly exist in the nature.

Example: green hill with snow cover starting at a special height, between this two parts of the surface an additional layer should be placed which contains a mixture of both colours in addition to the fractal noice of the upper and lower surface.

2. Light and shadow in the surface: A surface map can contail light and shadow structures which are then supported by the atmosphere. A SO Overlay as texture would be suitable for such a purpose.
